I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and was Shot by the Taliban

I Am Malala: The Girl Who Stood Up for Education and was Shot by the Taliban - Malala Yousafzai, Christina Lamb * To be clear: my 2 star rating is not for Malala's story, but for this book.

I struggled to get through this book. The first part the book went from Pakistan history, to Malala in school, to Pakistan politics, to memories from Malala's past. It was all over the place and not comprohensive at all, which annoyed me a lot. Too many names and too much history... Also there were a lot (really a lot!) of Pakistanic / arabic? terms used, so I had to keep looking in the back of the book at the word list what that word means which was not stimulating for my reading experience.

Another thing that bothered me was that Malala's tone in this book. It felt really braggy, especially since I pictured her as a real humble girl. But i've read over a dozen times how she was best of her class, best at this, best as that..

The last 1/3 of the book was better, as it felt like more her voice.
I also liked that I learned more about life in Pakistan. It is so hard to imagine that there are countries where people are treated so bad, that woman still don't have equal rights to men, that other people chose who you'll marry, and that you cant go to school and build a carreer if you're a girl.. So sad that these things are still happening in the world :(
